Order “Bangkok Dangerous” on DVD and save!

I forgot about his one. It was in theaters awhile ago and it just slipped my mind. It’s called “Bangkok Dangerous”, starring Nicholas Cage. If the name sounds familiar… It is because the original was released in 1999 with the same name. Nick Cage plays a hitman named Joe who employs a pick-pocket named “Kong”, played by Shahkrit Yamnarm. Kong is hired to do pick-ups and deliveries for Joe. When Kong discovers what Joe does for a living he wants Joe to teach him his trade. Normally, Joe would have killed someone like Kong. However, he sensed some kind of kinship and decided to take Kong under his wing.

Watch the “Bangkok Dangerous” trailer:

While Joe is training Kong, Joe develops a relationship with a local deaf mute female drugstore employee. While walking together in a park the couple are accosted by thugs, who try to rob them. When Joe quickly disarms them, and kills them, she gets a glimpse of his life and she doesn’t like it.

Joe is then contracted to kill someone who is considered a “good” man, a politician. At this point Joe is forced to make a decision. Do the job or not. He now has become a liability… an assassin with a heart. Also, his contractors are afraid that Joe and Kong could lead the authorities back to them. So in an effort to remain unknown the contractors decide to do away with Joe and Kong and they use Kong’s girlfriend as leverage.

Nick delivers a performance in typical a “Nick Cage” fashion. The performance is entertaining, but nothing amazing. Although I prefer the original release to this one, I found this one enjoyable as well. If you have not seen the first one I would suggest renting that one also. Then make the comparison for yourself.
